This photograph comes from the collection of Louis Baus, a native of Cleveland, who was born in 1875. He began his career as a professional photographer doing studio work before becoming a staff photographer for the Cleveland Advocate in 1911. Baus worked for the paper, which was later purchased by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, for thirty-eight years until his death in 1949. He was also an avid collector of historic photographs. The Louis Baus Collection consists of over one thousand photographs mounted in eleven albums, showing historic Cleveland, the village of Zoar and Ohio covered bridges and mills. View on Ohio Memory.

At the top two corners of main division of building fronting on Limestone St. are mounted two 18-foot eagles, one on each side of the entrance facade, said to be the world's largest fully-molded eagles and used in ornamental construction." This photograph is of the U.S. Post Office located at 150 North Limestone Street, Springfield, Ohio 45501. Construction began on this Art Deco style building in 1934 and has several murals by artist Herman Henry Wessel. In the 1970's these mural were covered up during energy conservation remodeling on the building, but in 2009, restoration began to restore these murals and the two story skylight. Description: Photograph shows the Westerville Post Office on South State Street on a winter day. The building is one story, made of brick, and has large, sliding paned glass windows. Cement steps lead to the front door. Two women appear to be leaving the post office, and a man is walking up the front steps towards the building. Snow covers the sidewalk, ground, and bushes. The Anti-Saloon League was headquartered in Westerville, Ohio, and sent out so much mail in the early twentieth century that Westerville became the smallest town in the United States to have a first class post office. Description: A man leaves U.S. Post Office Station H at 615 North High Street in the Short North neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The High Street Photograph Collection is comprised of over 400 photographs of High Street in Columbus, Ohio, taken in the early 1970s. These photographs were taken primarily at street level and document people and the built environment from the Pontifical College Josephinum on North High Street in Worthington through Clintonville, the University District and Short North, Downtown and South Columbus. The photographs were used in a television photo documentary that aired on WOSU called "High Street."
